McCain Foods has an immediate opening for a North America Logistics Director. This role has responsibilities for transportation and warehousing operations for McCain North America. This responsibility includes implementing cost effective operations that exceed customer service targets for on-time delivery. Equally, this role is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to deliver against long term cost and service targets. This role includes developing budgets, cost and service management. Key KPI's include delivery of Freight cost targets, storage & handling cost management through 3PL, and On-Time Delivery to customers.



This role also has Functional Expert responsibilities for all processes within Physical Logistics including SAP, WMS and TMS.



The NA Logistics Director is a member of the Supply Chain Leadership Team. The role has the responsibility to develop direct reports as well as provide leadership across the broader Supply Chain team. This role reports to the Vice President, Greater North America Supply Chain and is located in our Lisle, IL office.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Employee Development and Engagement:


  • The NA Logistics Director plays a critical role in the development and engagement of employees. Developing challenging assignments, providing frequent developmental feedback, coaching and mentoring are critical to the team's development and success.


Logistics Operations:


  • Manage Operational Performance in the areas of Transportation and Warehousing

  • Manage both McCain-owned and 3PL warehouse operations

  • Provide leadership and direction to consistently deliver against the KPI's (On-Time to RAD, Transportation Cost/Tonne, Storage & Handling Cost/Tonne).

  • Develop and establish KPI's for operational metrics

  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to deliver in all KPI's. Identify, evaluate, prioritize, and implement change to drive reduced costs, higher customer service, and reduced lead-times.

  • Lead the management of 3rd Party logistics partners (Warehousing 3PL, Carriers, etc)

  • Lead Customer Engagement initiatives in the area of Logistics

  • Support the development and execution of agreements with Third Party Providers in the areas of LTL/FTL Carriers, Brokers, Shunt & Shuttle Services, Cross Dock Providers.

  • Business partner on sourcing and competitive bidding activities led by the Logistics procurement Team

  • Manage/develop annual operating budgets

  • Own the development of future Logistics strategies


Functional Expert:


  • Act as the Functional Expert for SAP, WMS, and TMS.

  • Provide functional development training and ensure ongoing effectiveness of business tools & processes within the scope of Physical Logistics.




KEY LATERAL RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Supply Chain (Inventory, Customer Service, Sales)

  • Internal Partners - Quality Services, Finance, Sales, Marketing

  • 3rd party Logistics Providers (Carriers/Warehouse/Brokers)

  • Industry Connections within Transportation/Warehousing area

  • External Customers




KEY TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS


  • University Degree (Business, Mathematics, Engineering) required, MBA preferred

  • 5+ years Logistics and Supply Chain Management experience (CPG experience required)

  • Preferred CITT or APICS Logistics designation

  • Experience managing 3PL's, and transportation networks in frozen industry (including rail)

  • Strong SAP experience

  • Demonstrated experience managing budgets, contracts and negotiation (cost & performance)

The ability to influence and build consensus across functions is an essential skill for this role. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills are required along with an ability to deliver ongoing performance improvements to KPI's. Also critical to the role is effective communication skills, as well as proficiency in the technical tools and systems for Physical Logistics (SAP/TMS/WMS/YMS).
