Job Requirements:

TITLE: Day Warehouse Supervisor

SUPERVISED BY: Operations Manager
STATUS: Full-time, non-exempt

LOCATION: Portland, Oregon


Responsible for the organization, scheduling of staff, and directing of the warehouse on a day-to-day work plan. Responsible for warehouse order accuracy, productivity levels, and facility maintenance/safety. Coordinates warehouse activities under the direction of the Operations Manager to ensure a well-coordinated order picking as well as a shipping and receiving plan.


At least five years' experience in warehouse shipping and handling and at least two years of experience in managing five or more employees.


Must have proven supervisory and effective communication skills. Tactful and understanding in human relations, in depth knowledge of food/produce warehouse procedures. Organizational and follow through skills, leadership capabilities, and respect for company policy.


  1. Lead the Warehouse in tasks; ensuring order accuracy, quality of product, cleanliness of the facility and other duties as assigned.

  2. Responsible for the daily scheduling of warehouse personnel to ensure proper staffing in order to select and receive products at the facility in a productive and cost-efficient manner.

  3. Directs the day-to-day activities of the warehouse. Such activities include shipping, receiving, sanitation, maintenance, etc.

  4. Responsible for the personnel relations such as disciplinary actions, evaluations, training, follow-thru, feedback, hiring, terminating, etc.

  5. Responsible for warehouse overtime rates, communicating inventory status such as out-of stock product(s) to pickers, receiving errors, picking errors, and warehouse slotting of products.

  6. Generates warehouse productivity reports (i.e. piece count report), in regard to selection rates, receiving rates, and accounts for all labor hours, both direct and indirect. Adheres to labor distribution requirements and works toward obtaining objectives and division goals.

  7. Responsible for conveying maintenance of warehouse equipment, providing both preventive maintenance programs and all necessary repairs to the Maintenance staff. Ensures that the warehouse personnel have safe, efficient equipment in order to perform the distribution functions.

  8. Responsible for warehouse safety programs such as ASAP in order to provide a safe and clean workplace for employees and within the regulations of OSHA local and state regulations.

  9. Ensure safe work practices and policies are being followed by all staff and safety is top of mind daily.

  10. Recommends equipment requirements and replacement to the Operations Manager in order to upgrade and maintain warehouse productivity and efficiency.

  11. Acts as replacement for the Operations Manager during vacation periods, or when the Operations Manager is unavailable to address warehouse concerns (staff meetings, etc.)

  12. Attend all mandatory meetings including ASAP meetings.

  13. Other duties as assigned.
