Assistant Controller

Our client is a bank, looking for an Assistant Controller to join their team. This person would take on a leadership role, and maintain efficient accounting and operational functions for the company by GL maintenance, reconciliations, closing procedures, compliance, etc. This team member would need to come with familiarity with the banking realm and have experience with US GAAP.

Responsibilities :



  • Work alongside upper management on all accounting levels

  • Ensure compliance with deadlines and keep organized with the financial reporting schedule

  • Supervise the closing of books (accruals, fixed assets and prepaid expenses, consolidations, etc.)

  • Ensure completion of financial reports and analysis to management, board of directors and regulatory agencies

  • Formulate reports to surmise business activity and financial standing

  • Manage financial reporting for loans and leases

  • Be familiar with reporting software

  • Work with agencies like FDIC and the Federal Reserve to prepare financial information

  • Administer the opening/closing of GL accounts and ledger maintenance

  • Assist with preparation of the Bank's annual budget plan and ongoing forecasting

  • Collaborate, develop and maintain reporting and communication processes with other departments and business line executives

  • Lead new initiatives or make recommendations for the bank based on findings



Qualifications:



  • 4-6 years of banking experience within a financial service or within a public accounting firm

  • BA/BS in Accounting / Finance or Business Management; CPA preferred

  • Strong experience with US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles

  • Advanced experience in Excel

  • Ability to prepare reports objectively, concisely and clearly and describe the work performed to enhance the report's usefulness

  • Strong communication skills and ability to juggle several tasks at once
