Job Description:





We are currently seeking an experienced corporate communications professional to join our team as a Communications Manager. The successful candidate will be calm, cool and collected under pressure, able to compose eloquent messages even with tight deadlines, and have experience with media and public relations. The Communications Manager is responsible for developing and executing the McCain Foods communications strategy (both on a U.S. level and on behalf of North America) while enabling positive engagement with McCain employees within the organization and with the local communities and stakeholders relating to each of McCain US sites. The Communications Manager will work with senior leaders, key functional departments, corporate, and external media supporting and identifying opportunities to create value for associated stakeholders (customers and employees).



ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Work effectively in a global matrixed organization with departmental oversight from global communications

  • Deliver an effective Corporate Communications Strategy that maximizes employee, local community and stakeholder engagement both externally and internally

  • Develop, manage and monitor corporate communication channels in support of strategy delivery

  • Act as a liaison between internal clients such as Quality/Foods Safety and Governmental Relations, and external agencies, including external communication resources to insure a successful coordinated communication result

  • Create and deliver an annual Internal Communications plan that generates employee alignment with the Regional Annual Operating plan and delivers activity to create awareness and understanding of progress against it

  • Work directly with internal clients to analyze communication needs, determine objective plan strategies and design effective comprehensive communication products/programs in a timely and cost-effective manner

  • Ensure that communication strategies and policies are communicated and implemented at the regional headquarters and all USA plant sites

  • Enable effective business transformation by managing and delivering relevant change communications

  • Serve as crisis management focal point on communications matters and provide reactive crisis and issues management support as required.

  • Manage all role relevant budgets and third party relationships



  • Writes or supervises the writing of materials in various formats (new media, brochures and newsletters, memoranda, feature stories, etc.) to meet the specific communication objectives for the business segment(s)

  • Other projects/duties as assigned or needed.




MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Education, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:


  • Education equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college with a degree in journalism, English, communication, and/or marketing

  • Awareness and in depth knowledge of the key issues facing McCain and the food industry

  • Awareness of new and leading edge communication technologies for internal and external corporate communication

  • Expert level knowledge of the range of communication and media channels and demonstrated ability to write in a variety of formats, including news media, magazines, brochures, internal communications and newsletters; basic understanding of graphic design/layout principles and production

  • Able to communicate effectively to a wider range of stakeholders using a broad range of styles

  • Strong attention to detail, copy reading and copy writing

  • Ability to assimilate large amounts of information, and proactively identify and articulate key points of relevance

  • Apply judgement to situations that are often highly ambiguous and rapidly changing

  • Ability to interact with all levels within the organization, including senior level executives

  • Demonstrated ability to develop comprehensive strategic plans and the ability to translate these plans to executable operational plans and tactical activity

  • Demonstrated ability to work under tight deadlines. Must have demonstrated superior competence in at least one of the follow areas: media relations, employee communications, project management, and communication and/or working with employees in a manufacturing plant setting




Required Length & Type of Experience:


  • Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible professional experience in advertising, developing communications or public relations setting
