Job Description:

Reporting to the VP, Marketing and Innovation, the Director, Customer Marketing, will manage a team of marketers responsible for developing customers where McCain has a direct sales relationship (National Accounts, Region Chain, K12/Non- commercial and SMG). The Director, Customer Marketing is the primary partner to the Sales organization in support of furthering customer objectives and driving profitable growth. This individual activates portfolio strategies for assigned channels and/ or segments by developing platform based selling tools that are delivered simply and with excellence and manages custom product pipeline (from ideation to delivery) for National Accounts and Region Chain customers. The Director will lead and develop team of customer marketers to maximize business and individual growth.

  • Develop Customer-specific strategies to maximize profitable sales of the McCain portfolio of products. This would include but not be limited to: use of existing and new Customer/Consumer research, development of promotions, LTO's, development of custom products, utilization of culinary and R&D resources.

  • Directly manage customer development on key accounts, including, but not limited to Burger King and McDonald's marketing activity (global and US). Travel to customer headquarters and regional events required. (Approx. 20-30% travel)

  • Lead/oversee the custom product development process for National Account and Region Chain business and product commercialization process, including ideation, value proposition development, project management, item setup, new item trials/market tests, promotions and customer-specific selling support materials

  • Align Sales to monthly volume forecast for custom National Account/Region Chain items. Inform Brand and Demand Planning as part of monthly Demand Planning process. Provide input into forecasting process for K12/Non-commercial and SMG items.

  • Partner with Sales to provide product, segment or market expertise as needed to facilitate their success within their customer base and develop actionable Customer Account Plans.

  • Steward deep dive view into customer segments as input to LRP process, including product white space identification, and business risk/opportunity dimensionalization within those segments. Propose new items and/or renovation to branded business to address portfolio gaps. Measure the effectiveness of all customer-driven marketing activities.

  • Lead enterprise selling efforts by leveraging and collaborating with the R&D, Innovation, Insights, Brand Marketing, Culinary and Integrated Marketing teams to create customer-specific innovation opportunities.

  • Provide leadership to the Marketing team and other functional departments, and act as an engaged representative other LT meetings, as needed.

  • Other projects/duties as assigned or needed.

Required Education, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Minimum 10 years of foodservice marketing experience. Relevant manufacturer marketing experience and segment insight will be a significant advantage.

  • Experience driving success through a combination of Consumer / Customer Marketing and Sales (customer-oriented) strategies.

  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and partner with key cross functional leaders (Sales, other Marketing, R&D) to create successful initiatives.

  • Strong team management skills and the ability to give clear direction to team in the face of evolving business needs.

  • Entrepreneurial approach to driving new business development with a strong results-driven commercial orientation.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills (including strong presentation skills), analytical ability, independent decision making and business vision - as well as a strong understanding of the marketing skills needed to identify, prioritize, understand and target market to both to a broad Segment as well as specific customers within the Segment.

  • Strong project management skills and the ability to prioritize and multi-task against several complex projects at one time.

  • Understanding of foodservice industry market research tools and data sources (NPD, Datassentials, Technomic, etc.). This includes the demonstrated ability to convert quantitative and qualitative research/information into actionable insights and customer solutions.

  • Thorough understanding of the product development/commercialization process.

  • Ability to think strategically, leveraging data and expertise to develop long range Segment plans, while successfully managing short term deliverables and balancing day to day requests.

  • Proficiency with PC applications in the areas of Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word. Excellent Power Point skills also necessary.

  • Highly collaborative with strong team orientation.

  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or related field (MBA strongly preferred)
