Job Description:


Manage all aspects of marketing execution for McCain branded selling programs and for key distributor customers in both the appetizer and potato categories in support of the Eastern Region sales team. Position is responsible for supporting the development and management of marketing activities targeted at local and national distributors, buying groups, and local operator customers. Position works closely with Sr. Manager of Field & Distributor Marketing, internal groups and field sales in developing effective programs to profitably grow McCain Foods broadline businesses. The position is also responsible for supporting and managing corporate distributor programs and associated day-to-day activities included, but not limited to scheduling and trafficking projects, fielding sales requests, reporting, and program tracking & optimization.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Support in-field execution of McCain brand programs and selling strategies in the Eastern Region.

  2. Active involvement in leveraging corporate programming and creating customer-specific initiatives to grow potato and appetizer business with key distribution customers including but not limited to: Sysco, UniPro, Gordon Food Service, IMA (including Reinhart & FSA), PFG, and USFS

  3. Support Manager and Business Development Managers in development of annual marketing plans for key customers listed above.

  4. Assist in the development and execution of customer marketing plans to maximize profitable sales of Private Label and McCain branded Appetizer and Potato items. This would include but not be limited to: use of existing and custom research, development of promotions, support of branded and private label product, product commercialization, food show/conference support, utilization of culinary and R&D resources.

  5. Monitor and maintain critical awareness of industry trends and target customer needs. Perform regular analysis and reporting on business results, competitive activity, and industry/segment trends.

  6. Work in conjunction with Regional Sales Managers and Business Development Managers to optimize sales activation programming to drive growth.

  7. Provide assistance to the sales organization to facilitate their success with appropriate business solutions. This will include providing information and expertise on capabilities, products, trends, markets.

  8. Evaluate the performance of marketing initiatives and trade spending to develop best practice learnings and optimize ROI

  9. Provide a day-to-day point of contact for McCain to customers, facilitating tactical business support and promotional programming development in partnership with sales.

  10. Respond to customer requests and inquiries in a professional and timely manor

  11. Visit sales regions and customer corporate and/or operating company locations as needed; conduct broker/distributor training, including local market and corporate distributor training initiatives as needed (e.g. Sysco MA's or Business Development Managers)

  12. Leverage category and marketing expertise across other branded and channel marketing areas by working closely with other customer and branded marketing teams.

  13. Contribute to the development of the overall business strategy with a focus on appropriate category, segment and account targeting for future business growth.

  • Bachelor degree in Business Administration with Marketing emphasis or related field, MBA preferred but not required

  • Minimum two years of business experience required in marketing, project management, supply chain, finance or sales. Customer/Trade Marketing experience desired but not required

  • Proficiency with PC applications in the areas of Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word and Power Point

  • Must be a self-starter and independent thinker with the ability to quickly react to dynamic and sometimes ambiguous situations

  • Food, Frozen category and/or Foodservice Marketing experience a plus

  • Ability to convert quantitative and qualitative research/information into actionable insights and customer solutions; Familiarity with foodservice industry market research and data sources (NPD, Datassentials, Technomic, etc.) preferred but not required

  • Understanding of the product development and commercialization process preferred

  • Strong organizational and problem solving skills with the ability to prioritize workload and manage multiple tasks. Ability to work under pressure, balancing multiple projects in a fast paced environment. Ability to work independently or as part of a team

  • Critical thinker with the ability to build upon requested actions in order to create more powerful business solutions

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills (including strong presentation skills), analytical ability, independent decision making and business vision.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills, analytical ability, independent decision making and business vision - as well as a strong understanding of the marketing skills needed to identify, prioritize, understand and target market to specific customers. The candidate will also need to demonstrate the leadership skills required to play an effective role in supporting sales and interacting with customers at multiple levels of the organization.
