Together with Marketing teams, the Manager Product Development will focus on the Front End of Innovation to increase the value, the size of opportunity and success probability of high-profit concepts before entering the PD and commercialization steps. In line with the company's strategies, brand image and territory; the incumbent will work to fill the Global Innovation pipeline with new ideas.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Understand global Appetizer business needs and strategy as well as needs and strategy of North America businesses.
Develop and coach direct team and other members of the broader R&D team
Focused and targeted PDP by individual with a focus on capability building
Frequent feedback and coaching sessions
Communicate/clarify the business vision
Further develop customer relationships within agreed key accounts to deliver increased volume and value NPD
Manage customer expectations in relation to NPD while ensuring customer satisfaction for NPD delivery
Linkage to pilot plant operations and provide technical expertise for processing capabilities
Direct linkage with McCain Marketing teams for Culinary and Ideation support. Identify product propositions against consumer trends and turn them into mass market offerings while leveraging the operational network.
Create/manage concepts from ideation to full commercialization utilizing the Stage Gate process and prioritization in the Innovation Leadership Team (ILT) meetings and then product development execution through partnership with business development teams.
Liaison with other functions within the Global Appetizer R&D group
Other projects/duties as assigned or needed.
Required Education, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Bachelor's degree in Food Science or Food Engineer degree
Minimum of 10 years of experience in the food industry
Experience leading a team of R&D professionals
Strong communication, influencing and conflict management skills.
Ability to communicate a vision that is clear and inspiring
Understands how to use various methods and tools to engage the organization to ensure commitment to change.
Demonstrated ability to facilitate work in a team environment and to build and maintain collaborative partnerships across organizational boundaries.
Ability to work in a multicultural environment with respect and sensitivity for diversity
