Position Overview:

As a key member of the Human Resources team, reporting to the Director or Rewards, the Compensation Manager will lead the North American Compensation function. This is a hands-on role, with the opportunity to have exposure to global initiatives. The individual will lead by example, managing compensation programs and practices that support the business. There will be a need and opportunity to participate in the design and achievement of global rewards practices.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage annual compensation cycle, including management and implementation of merit increases and incentive programs.

  • Manage salary administration, including working with Rewards Analyst on job evaluations, salary evaluations, salary surveys, and special projects.

  • Participate in policy and procedure development regarding North American compensation. Lead process and system improvement initiatives to better facilitate accurate data, streamline work and provide effective North American process.

  • Manage domestic relocation program which includes liaising with the third party provider, legal, Human Resources, managers and employees.

  • Conduct annual and ad hoc salary surveys to ensure McCain programs are equitable, competitive and aligned to our business objectives.

  • Provide advice and support on offer recommendations.

  • Manage compensation operations to gain efficiency and consistency in policies and practices. Ensure delivery of valued compensation consulting and operational oversight.

  • Manage and develop a strong team. Assume leadership and development of compensation support staff.

  • Build strong relationships across the company and leverage best practices. Establish and maintain strong relationships across the North American organization, with other regional counterparts and with the corporate office. Demonstrate the ability to provide clear recommendations while being flexible and adaptable.

  • Identify opportunities to improve Total Rewards processes, including preparing and analyzing regular management and audit reports and ensuring integrity of the HRIS and other systems.

  • Participate as a project team member/lead on various HR projects, including participating in Global Rewards Lead calls and projects.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or equivalent combination of training and experience

  • 5-7 years of compensation experience; 2+ years in a management position preferred

  • Excellent consulting, problem solving, and analytical skills

  • Strong project management skills

  • Ability to use good judgment and discretion with highly confidential and sensitive personnel information

  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills and working knowledge of HRsystems
