Job Description:





SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Senior Brand Manager - Retail Potato, the individual will support marketing across McCain and store brands within the Retail portfolio across potatoes and prepared foods. The Associate Brand Manager will act as a strategic partner to Sales, Supply Chain, and other functional groups within the organization. Responsibilities include supporting customer-driven new item launches and private label item maintenance, sales forecasting, sales and share reporting, and customer-focused communications.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (list by order of importance):


  • Coordinate and execute retail private label business across Potatoes & Prepared Foods

    • Maintain current business, including management of product, specification, and packaging changes

    • Assess and provide recommendations in response to Requests For Proposals (RFPs) and new business opportunities

    • Execute internal forms and reviews, including Cost & Feasibility Requests (C&Fs), Material Change Authorizations (MCAs), Material Master Request Forms (MMRFs)

    • Lead and manage cross-functional private label project teams to execute new private label product launches, packaging designs, artwork approvals, SKU and materials management changes and financial feasibility exercises

    • Address customer and Sales inquiries and develop customer product presentations

    • Support monthly Demand Planning process by preparing monthly SKU forecasts and participating in consensus activities

    • Work with agency contacts to support private label marketing and communications plans, media, and customer and consumer activations (coupons, promotions, etc.) in support of the annual marketing plan

    • Manage marketing spending budget and reports on spending results/ROI



  • Manage quarterly competitive review and reporting

    • Establish a schedule for product reviews with key stakeholders

    • Coordinate cuttings, including procurement of samples, documents, and review protocol

    • Identify quality issues or competitive opportunities relative to national brand standard

    • Provide follow-up reporting to the team



  • Support monthly business review data for deeper analysis and commentary by Senior Brand Managers

    • Support the preparation of general business analysis and reporting

      (sales, profitability, competitive activity, promotional results, etc.)

    • Prepare and advise on category trends and business performance utilizing internal and external data sources (SAP, IRI custom & syndicated data, consumer household panel, etc.)



  • Support annual planning and other retail channel projects/duties as assigned or needed

Required Education, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:


  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or related field (MBA strongly preferred)

  • Self-starter and independent thinker with the ability to understand business fundamentals from an opportunity or challenge perspective, then convert that insight to sustainable strategies and action plans for growth

  • Entrepreneurial approach to driving a business with an ability to influence the organization

  • Strong financial and strategic acumen, analytical abilities, communication skills and capable of independent decision making and setting business vision

  • Project management skills and the ability to prioritize and multitask against several complex projects at a time

  • Familiarity with syndicated data systems (IRI, Consumer Household Panel, etc.), managing and leveraging primary consumer research and manipulating multiple data sources to generate business insights

  • Computer proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint and Word




Required Length & Type of Experience:


  • Minimum 1-3 years of Marketing, Brand, Category Management or relevant Retail channel business experience with a focus on Grocery, Drug, Mass and Club channels, and preferably experience with a leading Consumer Packaged Food company

  • Private Label, Food, Frozen category and/or Foodservice Marketing experience a plus
