The Chief Cloud and Container Architect will engage with ADP's product groups to understand their business drivers, assess product portfolios, design reliable and cost-effective hybrid cloud ecosystems, create transition plans and develop business cases to justify the cloud/container based transition programs. Our product teams cover hundreds of products across tens of thousands of servers and involve developing a shared vision, leading the product teams through the challenges of cloud/container adoption, demonstrating the reality of the vision and then enabling them to achieve full development and operational cloud native integration.

Chief Cloud and Container Architect


Responsibilities


* Evangelize the benefits of public, private, hybrid cloud and container technologies across ADP using multiple forums and communications techniques


* Demonstrate thought leadership in cloud/container services across multiple channels and become a trusted advisor to senior decision makers within ADP


* Work closely with Product Development and Operations teams to design application cloud architectures that are scalable, highly available, and supportable.


* Educate developers on Cloud Native application development and help them in their journey


* Develop and maintain financial models for cloud offerings and continually seek cost optimizations and right sizing opportunities.


* Work closely with ADP's Global Security Office (GSO) to proactively maintain secure and compliant cloud environments.


* Stay current on new and emerging trends in cloud computing and evaluate their potential for within ADP products.


* Establish and run a cloud/container community to communicate and publish relevant cloud/container architectural artifacts.


* Work closely with Support and Service teams to identity recurring hosting related issues and champion root cause identification and remediation.


* Ability to be a team player, works effectively with others with positive cooperation.


* Ability to communicate, both internally and externally, in an effective, timely professional and courteous manner.


Job Requirements:
Qualifications
* Broad understanding of industry trends across software development/architecture, cloud operating platforms and data


* Experience in Cloud Native platforms including the design and automation of Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and Platform as a Service (PaaS) capabilities including virtual networks, virtual machines, cloud services, container services, data center OS services, web sites, data services, etc.


* Experience in the design and development of cloud-native scaled out and distributed applications that leverage microservice architecture, REST APIs, relational and NoSQL stores, some level of networking and system expertise, strong tooling, monitoring, and cloud management experience.


* Experience with organizations migrating from a monolithic legacy deployment and release environment to a containerized deployment ecosystem


* Experience in the design and implementation of data analytics that leverage Hadoop and predictive analytics systems.


* Experience in building scaled out infrastructure on private and public clouds such as AWS, Google, Azure, SoftLayer, etc.


* Strong experience working in small, highly technical teams employing Agile/Scrum practices
* Ability to deliver results in a short time and experience working in fast paced high growth tech companies.


* Proven ability to pull a diverse group of individuals with different goals together to facilitate, moderate, and influence productive discussions driving towards results.


* Experience implementing Platform and Infrastructure-as-a-Service capabilities.
* Continuous delivery solutions, supporting a private, public, and hybrid cloud infrastructure.
* Strong scripting in Ruby, PHP, Perl, Python or JavaScript.


* Fluency in 12 factor application design, distributed systems, container-based deployment including but not limited to Docker, and the ecosystem of tools and services around deployment and execution of mixed technology distributed systems in production.


* Experience with PaaS/IaaS technologies such as Docker, OpenStack, Mesos, Kubernetes, and Cloud Foundry


* Experience with DevOps tools such as Puppet, Ansible, Chef Salt, Jenkins, and HPOO


* BS degree in Computer Science/Electrical Engineering required; Masters' degree preferred
