Job Description: *Collaborate with Academic Affairs Department management to hire and evaluate Lead Faculty, Teaching Faculty, Adjunct Faculty, and Subject Matter Experts within the discipline. *Lead the conceptualization and development of online courses and curriculum within the program in coordination with the University Dean of Criminal Justice. *Review and approve course objectives and content. *Lead the evaluation and revision of courses and curriculum within the program. *Work with the Vice President of Academics (VPA) and other Program Chairs to insure maximum articulation between the degree programs offered in the field and effective use of Lead faculty in course development and teaching. *Aid in the planning and participate in the training and development of new Adjunct faculty. *Mentor select groups of new faculty and mentor peers by example – growing the team through encouragement. *Develop and implement retention projects and services. *Recommend to the AIU Library Director the acquisition of reference materials as appropriate and necessary. *Participate in the explanation and promotion of the academic program area to admissions staff and other interests, as well as answer questions on student inquiries regarding program content. *Assist in resolving student complaints that relate to the faculty, course content, and the curriculum. *Perform collateral duties as assigned. *Teach/facilitate classes and teams, as assigned, utilizing collaborative techniques. *Maintain appropriate records of progress and evaluation for all students enrolled in classes assigned. *Maintain regular office hours to counsel students and inform students of office hours. *Attend AIU orientation, training, and professional development workshops, as requested, and participate in establishing the agenda for department and faculty meetings as appropriate. *Effectively use course materials including the standard AIU syllabi and grading rubric. *Effectively employ course facilities including live chat sessions, faculty office hours and discussion board participation.. *Provide accurate, authentic and formative feedback for student submissions. *Meet grading deadlines. *Be responsive to students in a timely manner. *Take proactive actions to promote student retention. *Uphold the purposes, goals, policies and procedures of the University and espousing these said purposes, goals, policies and procedures in the performance of duties. *Demonstrate ability to lead faculty in the development and revision of online courses and curriculum. *Provide assessment of faculty members’ content knowledge and delivery for performance reviews in conjunction with Academic Quality Analysts (AQA). *Along with Lead Faculty, track adjunct faculty pre-session reviews and attend to any issues that are reported. *Ensure that the “best practices” of the subject area are employed by discipline- specific faculty members. *Assist in the training and development of new adjunct faculty. *Provide input and leadership for the development, and revision of curriculum and new University initiatives. *Supervise and insure quality in the revision of course materials. *Assist in the development and implementation of retention projects and services. *Recommend to the AIU Library Director the acquisition of reference materials as appropriate and needed for student success. *Supervise Lead Faculty members on curricular changes affecting discipline areas. *Review classroom content. *Engage in constructive dialog with students, faculty, chairs and administrators *Participate in peer to peer mentoring. *Ensure that the “best practices” of the subject area are employed by discipline- specific faculty members. *Demonstrate the ability to lead and guide students in the AIU learning environment in order for them to obtain academic success. *Promote the academic program area through “Program Knowledge” events to admissions staff and other interests, as well as answer questions on student inquiries regarding program content. *Collaborate with marketing professionals for the effective marketing and advertising of the program. *Demonstrate excellence in designing, developing, implementing and evaluating new programs, services and curricula targeted to helping students achieve academic success. *Demonstrate experience in building and facilitating teams. *Demonstrate willingness to utilize the collaborative techniques in the delivery of education. *Demonstrate ability and experience in successfully advising students and faculty. *Excellent communication skills. *Demonstrate highly developed analytical skills. *Maintain required individual faculty documentation including current vita, professional development records. *Attend/facilitate required in-services, faculty meetings and conferences. *Participate on at least two University committees. *Recognize and acknowledging what each member brings to the team. *Mentor by example – grow the team through encouragement. *Encourage “buy-in” – build faculty motivation based on respect.
Job Requirements: *Master's degree in Criminal Justice or appropriate related degree required *PhD in Criminal Justice preferred *5+ years experience in Criminal Justice field *3+ years management experience
