Job Description:
GENERAL PURPOSE:

The position is responsible for managing the day to
day operations of the pharmacy business office and
branch billing. Manager is also responsible to
evaluate department's effectiveness, ensuring
optimum staffing levels, delivering coaching and
feedback, providing performance evaluations to
ensure growth. Responsible for current, accurate
billing on patient accounts, 3rd party insurance
claims, assures timely remittance, and takes
immediate action on issues that involve account
integrity. Assist billing representative in verifying
insurance coverage and follow-up with payers and
nursing facilities to facilitate uninterrupted cash flow.
Obtain/ set-up new insurance plans. Also assist in
training and re-training of the CSR/DE with billing.
First line in helping resolve nursing facility resident's
billing issues and concerns.
Support an environment that promotes optimal
efficiencies, staff retention and superior quality of
business office employees.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

* Performs and/or oversees the completion of all
routine and extraordinary business office related
tasks, including but not limited to:

o Accounts Payable and Receivable
o Third party billing and Collections; conducting 3rd
party audits; adjudicating claims to 3rd parties
o Payroll/Benefit Management
o Census maintenance and census/billing
o Office and pharmacy supply (inventory management
and reconciliation)
o Reception, mail distribution and all other
administrative duties.
* Manages day to day operations of billing
department; Establishes performance goals for staff
and ensures goals and objectives are completed.
* Ensures billing processes and expectations are
being followed and all billing is accurate and billed to
the appropriate responsible parties.* Ensures timely
completion of daily batch claims billing.
* Supervises accuracy of verification desk entries.
* Ensures first dose prescription order billing is
accurate prior to dispensing.
* Manages and responsible for ensuring all error
resolution orders in queue are process daily.
* Monitors, manages and track prior authorizations
claims; Verify process and procedures are being
followed.
* Knowledge or experience working with the Nursing
Facility census process.
* Responsible for timely and accurate reports,
including DC, Antibiotic and Error reports.
* Manages Rebilling Process for department.
* Ensures customer satisfaction by resolving billing
inquiries at a local pharmacy branch level.
* Makes effective decisions re: re-billing and crediting
accounts when necessary
* Perform job duties in an equitable and appropriate
manner that assures optimum efficiencies and
proficiencies.
* Perform prescription claims adjudications for all
pharmacy insurance programs.
* Handles Med-A billing to nursing facilities.
* Manage process to provide prescription price
quotes to nursing centers and prescriber's
representatives.
* Process short orders and partial fill prescriptions
billing from pharmacy production.
* Manage refill-to-soon rejections process and
tracking.
* Responsible for all month-end closing functions
and processes.
* Manage process of combine prescription billing
(same drug with multiple doses).
* Assist customer service, order entry technicians and
pharmacist with prescription billing errors. Able to
help analyze billing rejection errors and trends for
continuous improvement opportunities.
* Process and manage prior authorization
prescription orders.
* Manage the process of handling prescription test
claims.
* Provides excellent customer service to all external
and internal customers.
* Promotes open communications between internal
and external customers, to enhance cooperative
efforts, improve pharmacy production performance.
* Accepts ownership and accountability for the
successful completion all pharmacy production duties
and tasks and achievement of pharmacy branch
goals.
* Understands, promotes and complies with rules and
regulations governing residents' rights.
* Keep workstation clean and stocked.
* Adhere to regulatory and company compliance,
Code of Conduct and Business Ethics (OSHA, DEA,
State Board of Pharmacy, etc.)
* Provide excellent customer service to all external
and internal customers.
* Other duties as assigned.

OTHER DUTIES:

* Keeps abreast of current state, federal and company
policies, procedures and regulations.
* Performs all other duties as assigned.


Job Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS:

* 4 year college degree preferred.
* High school diploma or general education degree
(GED); and ability to communicate, perform and
comprehend variables within the pharmacy operation.
* Certification in Pharmacy Technician program is
preferred.
* 2 years of Long Term Care Experience
* Two or more years of pharmacy billing and business
office management experience is preferred.
* Expert computer skills, including fundamental
knowledge of Windows based software programs,
including but not limited to word processing and
spreadsheet applications.
* Expert user skill of Microsoft Office Program;
specifically MS Excel is preferred.
* Organization skills including the ability to prioritize
and manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
* Excellent effective oral and written communication
skills.
* Ability to effectively and harmoniously interact with
facility, group, division and company management
and other employees at all levels; promotes teamwork
and demonstrates strong professionalism.
* Ability to work and produce results under pressure.
* Must be capable of maintaining regular attendance.
* Must be dependable and able to work with minimal
supervision.
* Must meet all local health regulations, pass post-
offer drug test, and pass post-employment physical
exam if required.
* Must be capable of performing the Essential Job
Functions of this job, with or without reasonable
