Job Description:
Works with low-income customers with physical and/or mental health conditions that limit their employability. Screens referrals for basic SSI eligibility requirements. Assists with SSI application and appeal process, assesses any supportive services needs and makes appropriate referrals. Represents client’s interests before the Social Security Administration at all levels from the Reconsideration Appeal up to and including the Administrative Law Judge Hearing Appeal and the Appeals Council, if and when necessary. Records all participant contacts and SSIAP case activity and updates case file with new or changed information, including Case Comments. Conducts weekly 1-day SSI workshop and home visits to homebound clients.
Job Requirements:
Desired candidate will have a passion for the work of helping individuals with disabilities, knowledge of many different medical/psychological conditions; strong verbal and written communication skills and some experience helping indivdiuals win approval of their denied benefits. A bonus if experience with employability class facilitation and job development for low income job seekers.Degree preferred but will consider comparable work experience. Must have good driving record and reliable transportation for daily activities.
