JOB SUMMARY On-Site Industrial Gas Plant Production Technician "Standard Plant Technician" is responsible for the safe, reliable and efficient operation of oxygen and nitrogen producing plants in various locations. The technician is responsible for the safety, reliability, quality, and profitability of these plants. This is a challenging and rewarding job that requires sound technical abilities in the primary SPO product lines, along with instrumentation, controls, and electrical systems. The Standard Plant Technician must demonstrate initiative in handling issues. The Standard Plant Technician must be on call and will be required to travel up to 50% of the time. SCOPE The Praxair On-Site Industrial gas Plant Production Technician is a production technician responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of oxygen and nitrogen producing plants in a variety of locations. These plants provide low cost, high purity industrial gasses for our customers and are situated on the customer's site. The successful candidate will be an energetic self-starter who works with limited supervision. The position requires the technician to be on-call to service the plants. A strong sense of ownership and leadership is needed to be successful in this position. An exemplary safety attitude and performance is a must. The technician must have proven mechanical skills and a strong background in instrumentation and electrical control systems. The candidate must be able to perform routine maintenance and calibrations on a variety of process equipment including centrifugal and reciprocating compressors, gas analyzers, electrical control systems, and pneumatic control valves. The technician must be able to comprehend technical manuals in addition to interpreting process and instrumentation diagrams and prints. In addition, the candidate must be computer literate and have strong interpersonal skills. Other responsibilities include administration duties to support plant operations. Must be able to learn and perform in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision. The technician reports to an Operations Supervisor, and is supported with a variety of internal and external technical resources. REPORTS TO Typically reports to a Team Lead or Operations Supervisor. DIRECT REPORTS May be required to train and lead entry level Standard Plant Technicians PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES 1.) Perform routine maintenance and calibrations on a variety of process equipment including centrifugal and reciprocating compressors, gas analyzers, electrical controls systems and pneumatic control valves.. 2.) Manage own time to accomplish operations and maintenance tasks for assigned plants which includes trouble-shooting, diagnosing and solving plant problems 3.) Coordinate contractors and resources (Reliability Center, Logistics, PTC Engineering.


Job Requirements:
EXPERIENCE 2 - 5 years of Operations experience required SKILLS D7i. Computers, Microsoft applications, FIX 32, and process control computer systems Communications, both verbal and written Standard Plants Quality System Organization Self directed learning Planning and project management Procurement processes WORKING CONDITIONS In addition to being able to sit, stand, climb, walk, read, talk, and hear, to perform the essential functions of this job an individual must be able to do the following additional activities: Extensive walking and bending; occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Travel to regional plant locations (up to 50% overnight travel). On-call 24 hrs/day, 7 days/week. Must carry cell phone and laptop computer for immediate availability.
