Job Description:
Permanent Full Time & Part Time
Registered Nurse, Intensive Care Unit
(ICU), Hospital, Belleville Ontario
Primary Duties of Position:
• Utilizes the Nursing Process in
assessing, planning, implementing and
evaluating patient care.
• Performs acts requiring
specialized knowledge, skills, and
judgement in assessing health needs and
in planning, administering and
evaluation patient care.
• Responsible for supervision of
other members of the health care team
who contribute to the provision of
patient care.
• Maintains nursing records.
• Participates in Quality
Improvement Programs to ensure a high
level of patient care.
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications / Skills:
Required:
• Must be a graduate of a Diploma
or Degree Nursing Program.
• Current Certificate of
Registration with the College of Nurses
of Ontario.
• Minimum 1 year recent medical /
surgical experience.
• Participate in comprehensive in
house training program sponsored through
the ICU, and a commitment to enroll and
complete a recognized Critical Care
Nursing Program within two years
• Evidence of continuing
professional development.
• A current CPR certificate.
• Must have satisfactory
leadership skills to assume in-charge
responsibilities.
• Must have satisfactory work
performance in present position.
• Must have previous proven good
attendance record.
• Capable of coping with
physically demanding workload.
• Must be available for shifts (8
& 12 hour shifts) and call in on short
notice.
Desirable:
• ACLS Certification.
• CNA Certification in Critical
Care Nursing.
• Current Critical Care Nursing
experience including completion of
certification program of Added Nursing
Skills specific to ICU.
• Other relevant critical care
courses.
