Job Description:
Action Personnel is actively recruiting for two (2) Library Technicians for one of our Federal Government clients. This is an opportunity for a Library Technician to be an integral part of ensuring the proper archival of Federal Government publications. This is a temporary/contract opportunity to work in a Federal Government department that is a source of enduring knowledge and memory of Canadian government and institutions
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
• Reviewing and acquiring various documentation
• Descriptive cataloguing, classification and subject analysis
• Cataloguing electronic and physical publications
• Conducting research as required
• Providing recommendations on proper archival procedures
• Extensively using library-specific software, such as MIKAN
• Arranging and describing Heritage records
Job Requirements:
In order to qualify for this opportunity, you must possess:
• Secret security clearance
• Completed relevant academic studies (ie. history, archival, museum)
• Excellent communication skills
• At least three (3) years experience in library and archives related work
• Sound knowledge of Canadian history
• Extensive experience using library-specific software
• Outstanding organization abilities and attention-to-detail
